The curriculum for the Middle School is divided into 3 grades as follows:

 

1. Grade 6 - Eleven-Year-Old children

2. Grade 7 - Twelve-Year-Old children

3. Grade 8 - Thirteen-Year-Old children

Grade 6

Eleven-Year-Old   Middle School

AEA’s emphasis for Sixth Graders is the correlation of the various skills that the students have mastered throughout their elementary education.

Topic:                          Phonics & Reading

Text:                           Mountain Pathways, Voyages of Discovery, Of America II, Adventures in Greatness, Mary of Plymouth, Stephen of Philadelphia, Swiss Family Robinson and Read and Think 6

Course DescriptionA wide variety of interesting subjects are included in this series of readers. Students will delight in the literature in this program as they see how it relates to the other subjects they are studying.

Texts:                          God’s Gift of Language C, Creative Writing with Penmanship Skills

Course Description: Sixth Graders will be constantly guided to see how grammar applies to their writing and speaking. A thorough, systematic presentation of grammar, composition, and mechanics is given in a clear and appealing manner. Observational skills, descriptive words, clear thinking, and imaginative writing are highlighted and emphasized throughout this challenging and interesting course.

Course Description: Sixth Grade Arithmetic demonstrates orderliness and reality. Excellent emphasis is given to percents, basic geometry, beginning banking, prime and composite numbers, ratio, and proportion.

Course Description: A variety of activities allow students to see words in context, practice dictionary and syllabication skills, use the words in compositions, and increase their vocabularies as they work with rhyming words, synonyms, homonyms, and other word groups.

Text:                            New World History and Geography

Course Description: This course teaches the history and geography of North and South America and includes a special emphasis on Canada and on recent events in the United States and the world. Important geographical facts and historical documents are given special emphasis and are highlighted throughout the year.

Topic:                           Science 

Text:                            Observing God's World 

Course Description: The opposing philosophies of creation and evolution are contrasted in this course of study. Other topics covered are the forces of earth, the universe and space travel. This course is an excellent bridge between Elementary Science and Middle School Science.  

Topic:                           Health Science

Text:                            Choosing Good Health

Course Description: Special emphasis is given to the endocrine, immune and nervous systems. This course shows the physical, mental, social and spiritual effects of drug abuse and AIDS on the individual and the world.

 

 

Grade 7

Twelve-Year-Old   Middle School

Seventh graders are provided a carefully constructed and intriguing system for mastering the skills that are needed for facing the years of adolescence.

Course DescriptionThe interesting stories and poems included in this course, most of which are by well known writers and poets, have been selected for their emphasis on character.

Course Description: A good vocabulary improves one’s reading, writing, thinking, and speaking abilities - all of which lead to success. This course increases the students’ skills in this area by allowing them to see, hear, and write the words in context.

Course Description: The textbook covers all topics normally taught in pre-algebra, as well as additional topics from geometry and discrete mathematics.

Course Description: In-depth studies of the major system of the human body are included in this course. Students learn to maintain physical fitness and make healthful, responsible choices.

Course Description: The course is established to encourage a positive self-image, healthy relationships, goal setting and personal values.

Course Description: Foundational course of basic typing skills by improving speed and accuracy.

Course Description: The history of America from the 1940s to the 1990s is presented with a special emphasis on the personalities and events that shaped the American character .

Course Description: The course introduces basic grammar concepts and a large vocabulary. The students develop their reading and writing skills by variety of dictations, exercises and conversations.

Course Description: The course is designed for developing basic skills, such as reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing and free conversation. The book introduces great amount of exercised after each grammar problem.

Topic:                           French Language

Course Description: This course is created to develop basic skills such as reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing and free conversation by introducing a large vocabulary and a great amount of exercises and each grammar section.

Grade 8

Thirteen-Year-Old   Middle School

The AEA eighth grade curriculum is designed to build a lifelong appreciation of academics and to prepare students for the important decisions and choices they will make in the future.

Course DescriptionStudents are introduced to some of the best of the world’s authors and are given the opportunity to make personal applications through provoking discussions. This course emphasizes setting and provides many models for student compositions.

Text:                            Let's Be Healthy

Course Description: Major health concerns that affect teenagers are discussed openly and honestly. Topics include high energy diet, obesity, bulimia, anorexia nervosa, the widespread AIDS epidemic and abstinence.

Text:                            Adobe Photoshop

Course Description: Students will be able to successfully demonstrate basic application for Photoshop and presentation methods by the end of the course. Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program and has photo enhancement software that can create artistic effects by using filters.
